Next Orbit is an IoT development company in Dubai that works across the full stack: we design hardware, write firmware, choose connectivity for each site, build the cloud platform and ship the dashboards and mobile apps people use to act on the data. Software and hardware builds are a core strength of our R&D team, from first prototype to pilot production. Typical projects include industrial IoT for oil, gas, water and utilities, smart devices, retrofit monitoring for legacy machines, and connected products with companion apps. We deliver for Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, the entire UAE, the GCC and globally.

Have a IoT development idea that does not fit a template? That is the work we like: tell us the problem and one of our expert engineers will map it to an architecture.
Discovery CallIndustrial IoT is about getting reliable data from field assets to the people who act on it.
A typical architecture places battery or mains-powered sensors on meters, tanks, pumps or pipelines, links them through LoRaWAN or cellular gateways, and feeds both the operator’s SCADA or historian and a cloud analytics layer. Alerts reach engineers by WhatsApp, SMS or email, and dashboards show trends, thresholds and data availability per asset.
We design for the realities of UAE sites: heat, dust, long distances, limited power and strict separation between operational technology (OT) and corporate IT.
Our article on industrial IoT solutions in Dubai and the UAE covers connectivity and security choices in more depth.
Not every project can start with an off-the-shelf device.
Our R&D team designs custom electronics when the use case needs it: schematic and PCB design, enclosure prototyping, firmware, power budgeting, security and preparation for regulatory approval such as TDRA type approval for radio devices. When a suitable commercial sensor or gateway already exists, we integrate it, because the fastest route to reliable data is usually the right one.
Data is only useful when the right person sees it in time.
We build IoT dashboards with live status, thresholds, alert routing, historical trends, exports and role-based views, and mobile apps for the people who use the devices: technicians provisioning sensors, customers checking a machine, managers watching a site. Where predictions add value, such as early warning of pump failure or abnormal consumption, our AI team adds forecasting and anomaly detection on the same data.
If you are evaluating a pilot, start with a feasibility study covering the use case, sensor options, connectivity per site, cybersecurity and OT/IT separation, total cost of ownership and expected payback.
You receive an architecture, a pilot plan with success criteria and a tailored proposal.
Architecture-first
Before a line of production code is written we draw the system: the people who use it, the services behind it and the systems it must talk to. This reference architecture is the starting point we adapt to your operation.

How we deliver
5 stages, each with a deliverable you can review and sign off before the next begins.
Use case, site survey, connectivity options, security model, cost of ownership and payback estimate.
Bench prototype with firmware and a basic cloud pipeline to prove the data is accurate and arrives reliably.
Field deployment on a limited set of assets with dashboards and alerts in daily use by your team.
Hardware revision for production, device management, rollout plan, installation and training.
Monitoring, firmware updates, analytics improvements and spare-parts planning under a support agreement.
Proof
Unique-idea prototyping is a core R&D strength: custom electronics, firmware and cloud software designed together in one build by a distributed engineering team, so the device, the data pipeline and the app agree from day one.
Battery-powered meters report over LoRaWAN to secure gateways, which feed the SCADA system and a cloud dashboard tracking consumption, leaks and data availability per meter.
An add-on module reads a legacy machine’s status, sends it to the cloud and powers a customer app and admin console without replacing the machine.
MeezanX, the EPC platform we implement, turns field inputs into project progress and automated alerts, the same alerting and dashboard layer we extend to sensor data.
Questions, answered
Both. Our R&D team designs edge hardware and firmware, and we build the cloud platform, dashboards and mobile apps. We also integrate off-the-shelf sensors and gateways when that is the faster, more reliable route.
LoRaWAN for low-power sensors over long distances, cellular (LTE-M, NB-IoT or GPRS) where sites are spread out, and satellite backhaul for offshore or very remote assets. We select per site during the feasibility study. Our industrial IoT guide for the UAE compares the options.
Yes. We connect telemetry to SCADA and historian systems through Modbus, OPC UA or vendor interfaces, with proper OT/IT separation and one-way data flows where your security policy requires them.
Cost is scope-based. It depends on the number and type of devices, custom versus off-the-shelf hardware, connectivity, cloud and dashboard requirements, installation and support. We start with a feasibility study and pilot so the business case is proven before scaling.
It depends on scope and hardware lead times. A bench prototype comes first, followed by a field pilot on a limited set of assets. Custom electronics and regulatory approval add time compared with off-the-shelf devices. Milestones are set in the proposal.
On AWS or Microsoft Azure, including UAE regions, or on your own servers for sites that must keep data on premise. Device credentials and data are encrypted in transit and at rest.
We handle manufacturing enablement: production-ready design files, test fixtures, firmware provisioning and coordination with contract manufacturers. Volume production itself runs with a manufacturing partner.
